Avon

Found at the base of Beaver Creek Resort and 9 miles from Vail, Avon is a popular ski resort town that's home to about 6,000 full time residents. A relatively short drive, 106 miles straight up I-70 from Denver proper, this is a great little vacation town no matter what time of year.
 
Enjoy the mountain activities during the winter, including skiing and snowboarding at nearby Beaver Creek and Vail ski resorts, snowshoeing, cross country skiing and snowmobiling.
 
Summer months bring spectacular outdoor activities in and around this area. Whitewater rafting on the Eagle River or nearby Colorado River. Mountain biking to the extreme at nearby Vail mountain, where they open the gondola for bikers. Road biking, and mild hiking along the paved paths that wind in and around the entire Eagle Valley. Fishing and even rafting on Gore Creek, which runs right through town, for those who don't want to travel outside of Avon.
